While this night, you will have an opportunity to see the ruby-colored moon. There will be a total lunar eclipse and this is its common color.
During this period, the Moon is in the position, which is called perigee. This is a special position, when its orbit is in the closest dislocation to the Earth. Accordingly, our moon would become bigger than usually. It is often called "supermoon". The alignment in the positions and directions of the sun, Earth and moon is perfectly perfect. The total moon eclipse will be at 8:11 p.m. The moon will bathe in the shadows of the planet. A total eclipse will end at about 1:22 a.m. During this life in shadows, it will put on these incredible colors and will shine with light orange first, and gradually, it will become blood red. This is an amazing picture, which can be scary for somebody. Nevertheless, it is beautiful.
You can slightly understand how this all happens. Imagine that you are standing on this heavenly body and are staring at our dear planet. In that very phase, when the Earth would be in the same line as the sun, it would become an obstacle to sun’s rays. It would block them and would not reflect upon the moon. Thus, you would be able to see a fiery rim around our planet.
The indications of NASA assure that the terrestrial disk, which is darkened, gets ringed by each sun upheaval and sinking. The rays of the sun bend around the edges of our planet and are reflected upon the moon, giving it light. At times, it receives utterly beautiful glows, such as this one.
Prior to reaching the surface of our home-planet, the sunrays make a long journey through the atmosphere. During this journey, some colors and shades get filtered and we have do not have a possibility for seeing them. For instance, blue color do not reach our sight. Nonetheless, all shades of red and orange colors pass clearly and unharmed.
As you have already understood, the moon alters different colors and puts on various combinations of them during various stages. The phase of supermoon will be orange and in the end amber. One should take into account multiple conditions of the atmosphere and elements in it. They also have influence upon the spreading of the light. Thanks to them, the shades may be either brighter, or darker. NASA continues studying this very aspect concerning the moon as well.
